This week, under the leadership of HRH Princess Astrid of Belgium & Jan Jambon, Minister President of Flanders, a delegation of Belgian entrepreneurs travelled to Norway. The 2024 Belgium-Norway trade mission focuses on forging long-term collaboration between both countries in the area of energy supplies and energy transition.
INEOS is extremely honored to have hosted a visit of the delegation on Monday in the presence of Minister President Jan Jambon. In Rafnes, located on the west side of the Frierjord, INEOS operates one of the most efficient steam crackers in Europe as well as a VCM, Chlor and PVC plant. During the boat tour in Grenland, the biggest industrial region in Norway, site managers Jan De Belder and David Verdu discussed the joint plan to carbon neutrality, based on energy efficiency improvements, electrification, hydrogen fueling and carbon capture.
Norway is the ideal hub for pilot-projects which require renewable energy as green (hydro)power is abundantly available. During the mission INEOS made a plea to the Belgian authorities to enhance access to renewable energy and low carbon hydrogen to enable the adoption of such projects in our country too.
On Tuesday the BEM-delegation, gathered at the Opera House in Oslo for the Energy Summit. Geir Tuft, CEO of INEOS Inovyn, gave a key-note speech during the Energy Summit, sharing best practices on industrial decarbonisation.
Wednesday topped it off with the hand-over of the Oslo Declaration to Belgian policy makers, on low-carbon value chains co-signed by INEOS.
