We love a challenge. Which is why we decided to take on one of the last remaining barriers in modern athletics, breaking the two-hour barrier in the marathon. Attempted by others, conquered by INEOS. Bringing together top talent from across the INEOS sporting family, and driven by grit, rigour and determination, the INEOS 1:59 Challenge supported Eliud Kipchoge to break the two-hour barrier in a time of 1:59.40.2 in Vienna, Austria on 12th October 2019.  Through innovation and advancement in technology and human performance the impossible was achieved.

The INEOS 1:59 Pace Challenge is a global running challenge open to all where participants aim to complete 352.6m in under 1 minute, representing the speed at which Eliud covered the marathon distance. It stands as a legacy, aiming to inspire everyone to take the brakes off in their heads and believe the impossible is possible.

Eliud Kipchoge Global Ambassador to The Daily Mile

As the greatest ever marathon runner, Eliud Kipchoge is Global Ambassador to The Daily Mile - a running initiative for primary school aged children. The free initiative, which is funded by INEOS, helps get children around the world running or jogging for 15 minutes every day at school, helping over 4.8 million children in 94 countries get active.
