INEOS reduce output at Lavera as closure of Marseilles port continues

Following the ongoing closure of the Port of Marseilles, due to strike action by port workers, INEOS Refining has reduced output at its Lavera site.

Action taken by the Confederation Generale du Travail Union at the port of Marseille over the past two weeks is preventing companies such as INEOS from importing feedstocks and exporting of finished product.

Should the strike continue beyond the beginning of next week the company will have to stop production at its refinery.

Other INEOS operations at the Lavera site are also affected. The INEOS Olefins facility has sufficient feedstock to continue production for the next few weeks. However, ongoing industrial action by port workers may lead the company to operate at 70% of normal operation (a 30% reduction) from next Wednesday.

INEOS Polyolefins is marginally affected and is currently operating at around 80% of normal production (a 20% reduction). This is causing tight but manageable supply and the business continues to meet contractual customer needs. INEOS Oxide is also operating at reduced rates.

INEOS is currently in contact with the Port Authorities and Local Government officials to help secure a swift resolution to this issue.
