INEOS, are proud to confirm Hans Casier CEO of INEOS Phenol has been appointed the new President of essenscia Belgium, the Belgian Chemical and Life Sciences Federation. Casier succeeds the CEO of BASF Antwerp, Wouter De Geest who was president of essenscia for eight years.
The role President of essensica is hugely influential and plays a direct role in liaising with key local and national government stakeholders on behalf of the chemicals industry. Although the industry is one of the largest and most successful in Belgium is still faces a number of challenges. These include maintaining international competitiveness and encouraging the next generation to gain the correct skills to enter the sector. As President of essensica, Hans has the opportunity to try and address some of these issues.
Hans Casier, President of essenscia says: “I am deeply honoured to be offered this position at such a crucial time. Chemistry and life sciences contribute enormously to the welfare and prosperity of Belgium as a country we are world class in chemistry, plastics, pharmaceuticals and biotech and I believe this is a truly unique combination.
However, there are a lot of challenges that need to be tackled. I plan to focus my energies on strengthening the international competitiveness of the chemical and life sciences industries in Belgium and encouraging more students to opt for developing their studies in technical and scientific fields.”
Hans has been with INEOS since its inception in 1998. His career started after completing a Master’s in chemistry and agricultural sciences from the University of Ghent and a Master’s in Industrial Management from the University of Leuven. Hans first role was with BP Chemicals in Zwijndrecht before joining Inspec. In 2005, Casier became CEO of INEOS Oxide and since 2014, has taken up the role of CEO of INEOS Phenol. He has also held positions in production, technology, product and business management expanding his extensive multi-industry experience.
