Chlorine

Chlorine is used to purify drinking water among other things and can be used to produce other chemical products such as hydrochloric acid which is widely used by the pharmaceuticals, metallurgy, electronics and food industries.

Chlorine

Chlorine is produced by passing a powerful electric current through a brine solution (salt dissolved in water), a process which also produces hydrogen that can then be used as an environmentally friendly source of fuel.

Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM)

VCM is the primary raw material used in the manufacture of PVC resins and is produced by the reaction of ethylene and chlorine, which produces EDC that is transformed into VCM by thermal cracking.  PVC resin is then formed by the polymerization of VCM. PVC is made as two main product types, each subdivided into a range of grades to meet the requirements of our customers’ specific applications.

Chlorine Derivatives

Chlorine derivatives includes various derivatives for use throughout the chemical industry, including chlorinated paraffins, chlorinated solvents, allylics and epichlorohydrin. Epichlorohydrin (known as ECH) is used in the production of glycerol, plastics, epoxy glues and resins, epoxy diluents and elastomers.

Chlor Alkali

Chlor alkali products also include ferric chloride, hydrochloric acid (used in a wide variety of industrial and chemical applications, including as a manufacturing aid in the pharmaceuticals industry, metallurgy, electronics and the food industry), potassium carbonate, potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite, a powerful cleaning agent and disinfectant, to a variety of businesses and utilities companies.
