Nitriles

World's largest producer of acrylonitrile & acetonitrile.

The Nitriles product category includes acrylonitrile, acetonitrile as well as other co-products produced from propylene and ammonia feedstock.

Nitrile derivatives

Nitrile derivatives are used in many end markets including automotive, electronics, construction and agriculture.  Familiar end products include clothing, carpets, outdoor fabrics and high performance textiles (manufactured from acrylic fibre).   Other products include nitrile rubber which is used in hoses and gaskets.

Acetonitrile

Acetonitrile is ideally suited for chemical analysis, extractive purification, and organic and biochemical reactions. For example, Acetonitrile is used as a solvent in the production of insulin and antibiotics and as a raw material in the production of naturally occurring pesticides.

Acrylonitrile

Acrylonitrile derivatives are used in many end markets.

In the form of ABS plastics it is used in automotive, electronics, white goods and construction.
Other familiar end products include clothing, carpets, outdoor fabrics and high performance textiles manufactured from acrylic fibre.

Nitrile rubbers are used in hoses and gaskets, as well as medical gloves.

Hydrogen Cyanide

Hydrogen Cyanide (HCN) is produced as a co-product during the INEOS Nitriles’ Acrylonitrile manufacturing process. HCN is used in many products, such as Chelates which are used in detergents, water treatment chemicals, pulp and paper industry.

Acetone cyanohydrin

Acetone cyanohydrin is a primary feedstock used in producing methacrylic acid and its esters, principally methyl methacrylate (MMA). The largest market for MMA is the manufacture of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) resins.  PMMA is used in acrylic sheet and moulding and extrusion compounds used to manufacture a variety of construction and household improvement items, such as hot tubs.

MMA is also used to manufacture surface coatings (paints) used in the automotive and architectural markets. ACH is also used to manufacture halogenated water treatment chemicals for the pool and spa market.
