INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe has launched a range of new metallocene linear low density polyethylene (mLLDPE) resins for blown film applications, realising the full potential of its unique technology in the increasingly demanding flexible packaging and industrial segments of the film market.
Eltex® PF6112 series has been designed to deliver maximum toughness in applications such as heat shrinkable films, high quality thin refuse sacks, thick films for heavy duty end-uses, etc.
Eltex® PF6012 series brings maximum sealing performance in coextruded film structures dedicated to heat sensitive food packaging and vertical form-fill-and-seal (VFFS) packaging lines.
Also, Eltex® PF grade slate has been expanded towards higher density film products, opening new options to converters looking for optimum balance of high stiffness and toughness.
Eltex® PF6612, PF6812 and PF6912 series are dedicated to consumer film applications such as collation shrink-wrap and lamination, etc.
These products are offered with both standard and fit-for-purpose formulations.
With these new products, INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe strengthens its commitment to serve the flexible packaging industry with products that exhibit unparalleled balance of processing, mechanical and optical properties.
“The outstanding performance of Eltex® PF products is first observed during conversion with low energy consumption and excellent film surface appearance both at high throughput and with little or no addition of polymer processing aid”, said Hervé Collette, Technical Service Manager Extrusion, INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe. “Then, the combination of high toughness and high stiffness delivers new options for downgauging so, bringing additional savings opportunities to the converters. Finally, films process very well on high speed packaging lines.”
The new products will not only extend the range of applications where these benefits can be achieved, but also highlight the following additional unique features of Eltex® PF metallocene technology. Most strikingly, the sealing performance of Eltex® PF6012AA and PF6012KJ is markedly better than conventional mLLDPE and Ziegler-Natta plastomers: lower seal initiation temperature, higher seal strength and hot tack, hence higher output on VFFS packaging lines. These products deliver a sealing performance similar to metallocene plastomers, including seal through contamination, while maintaining a significantly higher stiffness.
With Eltex® PF6912AA, converters will notice that excellent optical properties can be maintained at higher density and stiffness. This is a significant advantage over state-of-the-art alternatives.
