INEOS Aromatics Indonesia has distributed food packages to residents affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.
Close to 200 packages of rice, weighing approximately 1 ton, were distributed to residents of Rawa Arum, which neighbours the nearby INEOS PTA plant.
Alfinus Mazuki of INEOS Aromatics represented the business.
"We have to help our brothers and sisters as we continue living through the pandemic. We hope that this assistance can help ease the economic burden of the surrounding community,” he said.
The CSR program is the company's commitment to sustainable development, aimed at providing economic, social and environmental benefits for the local community.
It also provides support for outstanding high school graduate students to continue their studies at Untirta, the main university in the region.
“The goal is to help improve the living standards of the community,” said Alfinus.
The INEOS Aromatics Indonesia plant in Merak produces purified terephthalic acid (PTA), which is used by the polyester industry to produce PET bottles, textiles, film and other products.
