 1924 Grangemouth refinery production begins at 360 kTa.

 1933 Lavéra refinery production begins at 350 kTa.

 1949 Grangemouth Crude Distillation Unit 1 start-up (65,000 barrels/day).

 1951 First crude oil imports to Grangemouth via deep sea oil terminal at Finnart on the west coast of Scotland.

 1958 Grangemouth Crude Distillation Unit 2 start-up (35,000 barrels/day).

 1970 Grangemouth Crude Distillation Unit 3 start-up (110,000 barrels/day).

 1972 Major expansion of Lavéra including the construction of a Hydrocracker.

 1975-76 BP establishes the Forties Pipeline System directly linking the Grangemouth refinery to the North Sea oil fields.

 1985 Lavéra fluid catalytic cracker start-up.

 1991 Grangemouth sulphur recovery unit start-up.

 1992 Lavéra isomerisation unit start-up (unleaded gasoline).

 1996 Grangemouth hydrofiner plant start-up (new low sulphur diesel capability).

 2005 Lavéra bitumen sulphur unit start-up.
INEOS acquires Innovene.

 2006 INEOS Refining formed.
Major investments for jet-sweetening and clean fuels production at Lavéra. Grangemouth invests in further clean fuel capability by commissioning another sulphur recovery unit and up-grades its deep sea terminal and tankage to further non-Forties crude sourcing flexibility.
