History

The history of the plant can be traced back to Werner and Amelung, who founded a factory for processing the secondary products of charcoal production in the middle of the 19th century.

 1856 First production in Mainz / Germany.

 1865 Chemical Industry Association in Mainz (Verein für Chemische Industrie).

 1876 Industrial production of vinegar essence.

 1895 First production of Formaldehyde.

 1931 Takeover by Degussa AG.

 1934 First Paraformaldehyde production.

 1947 Start of Hexamethylene tetramine production.

 1968 Opening of the large scale production facility for Paraformaldehyde.

 1977 First Cyanates production.

 1999 Establishment of Methanova GmbH.

 2000 Capacity expansion for Hexamethylene tetramine.

 2003 INEOS acquires Methanova and forms INEOS Paraform.
